MLB: Tampa Bay 5, Baltimore 1

BALTIMORE, April 12 (UPI) -- Matt Garza pitched eight innings of one-run ball Monday, leading the Tampa Bay Rays to a 5-1 win over Baltimore.

Garza (2-0) allowed only six hits and three walks, striking out five. Carl Crawford went 4-for-4 with his first home run of the season in the Rays' win.

Reid Brignac socked a homer and drove in two runs as Tampa Bay broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth. The outburst was capped by an Evan Longoria sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.

Jeremy Guthrie (0-2) got the loss, giving up three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over seven innings. Felix Pie hit a solo home run in Baltimore's fourth straight setback and sixth in seven games to start the season.
