NEWARK, N.J., April 10 (UPI) -- Patrik Elias
netted a pair of goals and Ilya Kovalchuk
added a marker Saturday, powering the New Jersey Devils to a 7-1 rout of the New York Islanders.
Kovalchuk also notched a pair of assists while Zach Parise, Dainius Zubrus, Dean McAmmond and Brian Rolston each lit the lamp as the Devils claimed their second straight Atlantic Division title.
New Jersey and Pittsburgh entered Saturday with identical records, but the Devils' win and the Penguins' regulation-time loss to Atlanta gave the division crown to New Jersey.
The Devils also remained one point ahead of Buffalo in the race for the second seed in the Eastern Conference. The Devils play the Sabres Sunday in a season-ending, head-to-head contest for the lofty playoff slot.
The Islanders were led by Matt Moulson, who notched his team-leading 29th goal.
