CHICAGO, April 10 (UPI) -- J.J. Hardy singled in Joe Mauer from third with two out in the 11th inning Friday, lifting Minnesota to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Since losing their opener to the Los Angeles Angels, the Twins have won four in a row.
Mauer originally had expected to have the night off, but he entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 11th inning and drew a walk from Tony Pena (0-1). Denard Span sacrificed Mauer to second and, after Orlando Hudson flew out to center, Hardy singled to left.
Joe Rauch came on in the bottom of the 11th to nail down the win and pick up his third save. Brian Duensing (1-0), the fourth Minnesota pitcher who allowed two hits over two innings, got the victory.
Justin Morneau went 3-for-5 for the Twins and Francisco Liriano gave up three runs over six innings as the Minnesota starter.
Chicago has lost three straight after defeating Cleveland to open the season.
