COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 9 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi scored the game-winner in the fourth round of the shootout Friday, giving Detroit a 1-0 victory over Columbus.

The Red Wings broke out of a tie for fifth place with idle Los Angeles and Nashville in the Western Conference, boosting their point total to 100. Detroit and Nashville have one game remaining and Los Angeles has two to play.

Jimmy Howard and Steve Mason were perfect in regulation and overtime -- Howard stopping 22 shots and Mason turning away 45.

After neither team could score in 65 minutes of hockey, both did so in the first round of the shootout -- Pavel Datsyuk producing a goal for Detroit and Rick Nash for the Blue Jackets.
