PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., April 8 (UPI) -- Caroline Wozniacki, ranked second in the world and seeded No. 1 this week, reached the quarterfinals Wednesday at the MPS Group Championships.

Wozniacki had no trouble winning her second round match against Sofia Arvidsson 6-3, 6-1. She is seeking her second straight title in this event, having defeated Aleksandra Wozniak in last year's final.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 to set up a quarterfinal meeting with Wozniacki. Pavlyuchenkova, 18, won her first professional title last month in Mexico.

Wozniak, seeded sixth, rallied to defeat Ayumi Morita 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. That brought about a quarterfinal matchup with Dominika Cibulkova, who ousted Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3, 6-3.
