NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Ronny Paulino singled in Wes Helms from second with one out in the 10th inning Wednesday, boosting the Florida Marlins to a 7-6 win over the New York Mets.
The Marlins out-hit the Mets 17-6 but Florida pitchers allowed nine walks.
Helms led off the 10th with a single at the end of a nine-pitch at-bat and moved to second on a sacrifice by Chris Coughlan. Paulino came on to bat for Leo Nunez and hit the second pitch from Hisanori Takahashi into center for the game-winning hit.
Tim Wood worked a perfect bottom half of the inning for the save.
Jorge Cantu, Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla all hit solo homers for Florida, which let a 6-1 lead get away in the late innings. Nunez got the win by working 1 1/3 innings of relief.
New York tied it with a three-run eighth inning, one of the runs scoring on a bases-loaded walk and another on a balk.
