Four-way tie on European Tour

April 8, 2010 at 9:41 PM   |   Comments

MADEIRA, Portugal, April 8 (UPI) -- Jose-Filipe Lima shot a 6-under 66 Thursday to share the lead with Chris Gane, Ben Evans and George Murray after one round of the Madeira Islands Open BPI.

Of the four co-leaders, Lima is the only one to have won an event on the European Tour -- and that triumph came six years ago when most of the circuit's stars were playing in the U.S. Open. Europe's top players are in Georgia this week playing in the Masters.

Andrew McArthur, Julien Quesne, James Morrison, Oliver Fisher and Jamie McLeary were tied for fifth at 67.

Lima is ranked 224th in the world and only two players in the field are ranked higher.
