MLB: New York Mets 7, Florida 1

NEW YORK, April 5 (UPI) -- Johan Santana allowed a lone run over six innings Monday and David Wright hit a two-run homer that helped boost the New York Mets over Florida 7-1.

Santana struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits. He is 4-1 in his opening day starts.

Wright hit his home run in the first inning and Jeff Francoeur drove in two with a sacrifice fly in the sixth and a double in the seventh. Jason Bay, a key New York acquisition during the winter, went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in his debut with the Mets.

Josh Johnson, making his first opening-day start, allowed four runs on five hits and walked four over five-plus innings to take the loss. Johnson brought a 7-0 record against the Mets into the game.

Florida had just six total hits and was 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
