Vettel wins Malaysian Grand Prix

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 4 (UPI) -- Sebastian Vettel re-entered contention for the Formula One championship Sunday, winning the Malaysian Grand Prix in Kuala Lumpur.

His Red Bull teammate, Mark Webber, finished second.

Vettel took the lead on the opening lap by first passing Nico Rosberg and then pole-sitter Webber. The German then remained ahead for the 56-lap race, which was run amid hot and humid conditions.

Vettel finished nearly five seconds ahead of Webber in his first win of the season and the sixth of his Formula One career.

Rosberg of Mercedes GP finished third, while Renault's Robert Kubica and Force India's Adrian Sutil rounded out the top five finishers.
