NHL: Chicago 4, Calgary 1

CHICAGO, April 4 (UPI) -- Patrick Kane notched a goal and an assist Sunday as the Chicago Blackhawks downed Calgary 4-1 hours after winning the NHL's Central Division.

Troy Brouwer, Dustin Byfuglien and Tomas Kopecky added tallies for the Blackhawks, who claimed their first division crown since 1992-93 after Detroit lost to Philadelphia earlier Sunday.

Antti Niemi turned aside 25-of-26 shots for Chicago. With the win, the Hawks tied a franchise record for single-season wins with 49 and swept the season's series with Calgary for the second straight year, posting an 8-0 record against the Flames during the span.

Ian White got the only goal for Calgary, whose three-game winning streak was snapped.

The loss also considerably darkened the Flames' playoff hopes. Although they remained tied with Colorado for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot, the Avalanche have two games in hand and have the edge in a series of tiebreakers.
