NBA: Oklahoma City 116, Minnesota 108

OKLAHOMA CITY, April 4 (UPI) -- Kevin Durant scored 40 points Sunday, establishing a franchise single-season scoring record as the Oklahoma City Thunder downed Minnesota 116-108.

Durant's performance gave him 2,258 points for the 2009-10 season, sending him past the team record of 2,253 set in 1988-89 by Dale Ellis for the then-Seattle Supersonics. He also provided a new club high-water mark for free throws made in a season, connecting on 690 for the Thunder this year.

Durant, 21, was active on he boards as well, grabbing nine rebounds to lead Oklahoma City to its fourth straight win. The Thunder strengthened their hold on the sixth seed in the Western Conference, one game in front of San Antonio and 1 1/2 games behind Dallas, Denver, Utah and Phoenix.

Jeff Green chipped in with 16 points while Russell Westbrook added 10 and a distributed a career-high 16 assists in the win.

Jonny Flynn and Ryan Gomes each scored for Minnesota, which lost for the 18th time in 19 games.
