MEMPHIS, April 2 (UPI) -- Center Marc Gasol and swingman Ronnie Brewer are being idled by the Memphis Grizzlies for the rest of the season because of injuries.
Gasol missed five games in March because of a partially torn neck muscle and aggravated the injury in a game Wednesday. He averaged 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds this season.
Brewer, who joined Memphis after a February trade with Utah, has a partially torn hamstring and has played in just four games since mid February and not at all since March 22. He averaged 8.8 points and 3.2 rebounds this season for the Jazz and Grizzlies.
Memphis is 38-36 this season and in ninth place in the NBA Western Conference. The Grizzlies are seven games out of the final conference playoff spot with eight games to play.
