
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla., March 30 (UPI) -- Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin each scored fourth-round wins but top-seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was eliminated Monday at the Sony Ericsson Open.
No. 3 seed Williams, a three-time Sony Ericsson champ, needed three sets to down No. 19 Daniela Hantuchova, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 on the hardcourts at Crandon Park.
No. 14 Clijsters scored a surprisingly easy 6-4, 6-0 upset of fourth-seeded Victoria Azarenka, the defending Miami champion.
Henin routed No. 11 seed Vera Zvonareva 6-1, 6-4. Henin, a former world No. 1, reached the Miami final in 2007.
Kuznetsova, the French Open champion, went down to defeat in a shocking 6-3, 6-0 loss at the hands of 13th-seeded Marion Bartoli.
Seventh-seeded Jelena Jankovic lost to ninth-seeded Samantha Stosur 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) while Caroline Wozniacki notched a straight-set victory over 22nd-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-2.
