MARTINSVILLE, Va., March 28 (UPI) -- Rain forced the postponement Sunday of the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville, Va., Speedway.

Race officials have rescheduled the event for noon Monday.

The .526-mile Martinsville track began getting wet about 30 minutes before Sunday's scheduled start. Track personnel failed in attempts to dry the surface after the rainfall picked up, leading to the race's postponement.

Sprint Cup points leader Kevin Harvick is poised to start on the pole, while Matt Kenseth starts second, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle and Tony Stewart. Rain also canceled Friday's qualifying race, allowing Harvick to get the pole position.

Forecasters are calling for mostly cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of rain Monday in the Martinsville area.
