ORLANDO, Fla., March 25 (UPI) -- Davis Love III, seeking his first win in two years, shot a 6-under 66 Thursday for a share of the lead after one round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Love, whose round was highlighted by a chip-in for an eagle at the par-5 fourth, was tied for the top spot with J.B. Holmes.
A winner 20 times on the PGA Tour, Love also had seven birdies and three bogeys at the Bay Hill course.
Henrik Stenson and Mike Weir were tied for third at 67 and Ernie Els -- who ended his two-year victory drought two weeks ago with a win at the WGC-CA Championship -- was among those at 68.
Love opened his round with a bogey and then played the next five holes in 6-under. He is looking for his first victory since capturing the Children's Miracle Network Classic in 2008.
Phil Mickelson, who has had a lackluster start to 2010, shot a 1-under 71.
