FORT MYERS, Fla., March 24 (UPI) -- X-rays of Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia's left wrist have come back negative, team officials said Wednesday.

The Boston star and 2008 AL MVP hurt his wrist Tuesday in a spring training contest against the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers, Fla., while diving for a ground ball.

Red Sox Manager Terry Francona told the team's Web site Pedroia is dealing with soreness in the wrist but is expected back in the lineup Friday.

Pedroia is batting .351 in 14 games this spring.
