LOS ANGELES, March 21 (UPI) -- Jonathan Quick stopped 26 shots, registering his fourth shutout of the season and lifting the Los Angeles Kings to a 1-0 win over the New York Islanders.
The Kings snapped a two-game losing streak and gained two points in the packed Western Conference standings thanks to Quick, who racked up his eighth career shutout and gave them a fifth-place tie with Nashville in the West's playoff race.
Quick was tested in third period when the Islanders got several good scoring chances, including one from Kyle Okposo with 10 seconds remaining in which the Kings' netminder was able to make a crucial body save.
Brad Richardson got the only goal of the game in the first period. Dwayne Roloson was the hard-luck loser for the Islanders, making 25 saves in the defeat.
