
MIAMI, March 21 (UPI) -- Quentin Richardson fired in six first-half 3-pointers, sparking the Miami Heat to a 77-71 victory over Charlotte Saturday.
Michael Beasley contributed 16 points and seven rebounds while Dwyane Wade added 14 and 9 with 5 rebounds as Miami won for the seventh time in 10 games and moved a half-game ahead of Charlotte for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
Wade, while struggling on offense, contributed instead on defense, tying a career high with five blocks. Meanwhile, Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony each chipped in with 9 points while Haslem collected 13 caroms in the win.
The Heat took command of the game with a 10-0 spurt after Charlotte had tied it 61-61 with 9 minutes remaining. Beasley had six of the points, including a key basket with 5 1/2 minutes left to make it 71-61.
Stephen Jackson put in 18 points and Gerald Wallace added 15 to lead the Bobcats in the loss.
