Lakers' Bynum out with Achilles injury

LOS ANGELES, March 21 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum has a strained, but not torn, Achilles tendon and will miss at least a week, the team says.

The oft-injured pivot man hurt the tendon Friday against Minnesota, saying he felt a pop in his left Achilles while running down the court. A subsequent MRI examination revealed no tear or rupture, officials said Saturday.

The Lakers said the injury will be re-evaluated Bynum rests on the sidelines for the next week.

Bynum has missed just four games for the Lakers this season being limited to a combined 85 games in the previous two years. He is averaging 15 points and 8.3 rebounds this season.
