Jimmie Johnson claims Bristol Sprint win

BRISTOL, Conn., March 21 (UPI) -- Jimmie Johnson collected his 50th career Sprint Cup Series victory Sunday, winning the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Johnson took over the lead when he passed Tony Stewart with six laps remaining, then bested Stewart at the finish line by nearly 1 second and claimed his first win in 17 starts at Bristol.

Third place went to Kurt Busch, who notched the most laps in the lead with 275.

The top five was rounded out by Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth. Kevin Harvick remained the points leader by finishing 11th, holding a one-point advantage over Kenseth.

With his 50th win, Johnson moved to within 14 points of the lead, while moving into a tie with Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson for 10th on the Sprint Series' all-time race winners list.
