OKLAHOMA CITY, March 21 (UPI) -- Jacob Pullen poured in 34 points Saturday, powering Kansas State to an 84-72 win over Brigham Young in a second-round NCAA Tournament West Region game.
Denis Clemente contributed 19 points and Curtis Kelly chipped in with 10 for the second-seeded Wildcats (28-7), who with the win will play the winner of Sunday's game between third-seeded Pittsburgh and sixth-seeded Xavier in the Sweet 16.
Pullen made connected on all 11 of his foul shots and was 7-of-12 from 3-point range. His trey put Kansas State up 50-40 with about 16 minute left, giving the Wildcats the momentum they needed for the win.
The win represented the best showing for the Wildcats in the NCAA tourney since 1988.
Jimmer Fredette netted 21 points for BYU (30-6), while Tyler Haws added 14 and Jackson Emery contributed 13 in the defeat.
