PHOENIX, March 20 (UPI) -- A 44-point explosion by Amare Stoudemire Friday led Phoenix to a critical 110-100 victory over Utah.

Phoenix remained in a tie for fifth place in the Western Conference with Oklahoma City and moved within a game of fourth-place Utah.

Stoudemire made 14-of-16 shots from the field and 16-of-18 from the foul line in pacing the Suns to their third straight victory. Phoenix held a 15-point advantage at halftime and maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the final two quarters.

Utah had won its previous two games.

Robin Lopez added 19 points for the Suns and Steve Nash had 15.

Carlos Boozer paced Utah with 23 points, but he made only 10-of-23 attempts from the field. It was the first win for Phoenix over Utah in three tries this season.
