ATLANTA, March 19 (UPI) -- Joe Johnson made a 21-foot jump shot at the buzzer in overtime Friday, giving Atlanta a 93-92 decision over Charlotte.
Johnson, who missed the previous two games with a strained Achilles, also scored the final points of regulation on a jumper with 40 seconds remaining. Both Charlotte's Theo Ratliff and Atlanta's Josh Smith then missed shots, forcing the extra period.
Johnson and Smith had 18 points each in helping Atlanta win for the fourth time in five games. Jamal Crawford added 16 for the Hawks.
Charlotte lost for just the second time in nine games. Raymond Felton scored 25 for the Bobcats and Gerald Wallace, who sat out the previous three games with an ankle injury, had 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Charlotte remains one victory away from setting a franchise record for wins in a season. The Bobcats have 35, which equals last season's total. Charlotte has never reached the playoffs but is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 14 games remaining.
