JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 19 (UPI) -- Jon Leuer had 4 points in the final 18 seconds Friday, allowing No. 4-seeded Wisconsin to escape a spirited 13th-seeded Wofford 53-49 in the NCAA tournament.

The decision gave Wisconsin Coach Bo Ryan his 600th career coaching victory and a berth in Sunday's second round of the NCAA tournament. The Badgers (24-8) will play 12th-seeded Cornell, which upset No. 5 Temple 78-65 earlier Friday.

The game road out of the first round was anything but easy for Wisconsin as Wofford clawed back from an 8-point halftime deficit and tied the score at 31-31 with 16:32 to play and neither team could grab control from there.

Even though Wofford didn't get a field goal after Cameron Rundles' jump shot with 4:43 to go, which put the Terriers ahead 48-47, Wisconsin wasn't able to capitalize.

Trevon Hughes put the Badgers ahead 49-48 with 1:52 to play but Terry Martin's free throw tied the score for Wofford with 35 second later.

Leuer put Wisconsin ahead with a shot with 18 second to go and after Wofford lost the ball on a turnover, dropped in two free throws the completed the scoring.

Leuer had a game-high 20 points and teammate Hughes added 19. Jamar Diggs, with 13 points, was the high-point man for the Terriers.
