ATLANTA, March 18 (UPI) -- Colby Armstrong had two of Atlanta's three third-period goals Thursday and added an assist in helping boost Atlanta past Ottawa 6-3.
Nik Antropov also scored twice for the Thrashers, winners of two straight after they had lost six in a row.
Johan Hedberg made 36 saves for Atlanta, which moved within three points of Boston for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
It was a 3-3 tie heading into the third period, but Antropov began a stanza dominated by Atlanta with a power-play goal. That score came 3:56 into the period and Armstrong tallied less than 2 minutes later on a slap shot.
Armstrong added a goal midway through the period, his 13th of the season.
All six goals were scored against Brian Elliott on 27 shots. Ottawa trails Buffalo by five points for first place in the Northeast Division.
