COL BKB: Virginia Tech 81, Quinnipiac 61

BLACKSBURG, Va., March 17 (UPI) -- Malcolm Delaney pumped in 25 points Wednesday, lifting Virginia Tech to an 81-61 first-round National Invitational Tournament win over Quinnipiac.

Delaney also grabbed seven boards and dished six assists as the top-seeded Hokies (24-8) connected on 47.1 percent from the field to cruise to the 20-point win.

Dorenzo Hudson chipped in with 19 points in the win for Virginia Tech, which now advances to play Connecticut.

Justin Rutty put in 22 points and collected seven caroms while James Johnson contributed 17 points and eight assists for Quinnipiac (23-10), which shot only 38.1 percent in the defeat.
