COL BKB: Texas Tech 87, Seton Hall 69

NEWARK, N.J., March 17 (UPI) -- John Roberson scored 22 points Tuesday to lead Texas Tech to an 87-69 win over Seton Hall in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Mike Singletary added 13 points for the Red Raiders and D'walyn Roberts recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Texas Tech will face the winner of Tuesday's Arizona State-Jacksonville game.

Jeff Robinson had a big night for the Pirates with 23 points and a dozen rebounds. Jordan Theodore scored 13 points and Eugene Harvey added 12.

The Red Raiders led 45-32 at halftime after shooting 54.5 percent from the field. They held Seton Hall to a 35.7-percent shooting mark in the second half.

Free throws played a significant role in the outcome with Texas Tech converting 22-of-32 shots and the Pirates hitting 8-of-11 from the line.
