Falcons drop CB Hill, sign S Giordano

ATLANTA, March 16 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons have released cornerback Tye Hill -- a former first-round draft pick -- and signed safety Matt Giordano, the team said Tuesday.

Hill, the St. Louis Rams' top draft choice in 2006, recorded seven tackles and an interception in eight games for Atlanta last season. In three seasons with the Rams, he made 112 tackles and recorded five interceptions in 36 career games.

Giordano was signed by the Falcons after being released by the Packers this month following one season in Green Bay.

Prior to that, he spent four years with Indianapolis where he recorded 79 tackles, made three interceptions and defensed seven passes over 60 career games.
