Dodgers P Wade out for three months

GLENDALE, Ariz., March 16 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Cory Wade will be lost for at least three months after opting to undergo shoulder surgery, team officials said Tuesday.

The Dodgers said the hurler will undergo exploratory surgery Wednesday to determine the extent of the problem after complaining of discomfort last week.

Two recent MRI exams did not reveal any labral or rotator cuff tears but Wade was told by doctors the pain may be coming from a joint linking the collarbone with the top of the shoulder.

The surgery would attempt to determine if there are any loose bodies in the joint.

Wade was on the disabled list twice last season, limiting him to just 27 games and 27 2/3 innings. He gave up 17 runs for a 5.53 earned run average and compiled a 2-3 record.
