HARTFORD, Conn., March 16 (UPI) -- Jerome Dyson sank a pair of go-ahead free throws with 53 seconds left Tuesday, lifting Connecticut to a 59-57 win over Northeastern in the NIT.
Dyson ended with 18 points on 6-of-13 field goal shooting as No. 4 seed UConn (18-15) advanced out of the first round to play either Virginia Tech or Quinnipiac.

After Dyson's foul shots put UConn ahead, Northeastern's Baptiste Bataille came up short on a potentially game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
The Huskies got 14 points and six rebounds from Stanley Robinson in the victory.
Matt Janning scored 17 points for fifth-seeded Northeastern (20-13) while Manny Adako added 14 and Nkem Ojougboh contributed 11 in the loss.
