Stars' Modano has appendectomy

FRISCO, Texas, March 15 (UPI) -- Dallas Stars center Mike Modano will be out indefinitely after undergoing an appendectomy, team officials said Monday.

Modano, 39, did not practice with the team Monday and will miss a game against the Sharks Tuesday.

Modano has 13 goals and 13 assists in 54 games this season. He has spent all of his 21 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars franchise, collecting 556 goal and 799 assists in 1,454 career games.
