
PHOENIX, March 14 (UPI) -- Amare Stoudemire had 36 points and 12 rebounds, and went 14-for-14 at the free throw line Sunday to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 120-106 win over New Orleans.
Jason Richardson scored 20 points and Steve Nash finished with 13 points and 12 assists for the Suns, who have won nine of their last 12 games and moved into sixth place in the Western Conference, a half-game in front of ahead of San Antonio.
Jared Dudley had 13 points and Robin Lopez scored 10 for Phoenix.
Marcus Thornton led the Hornets with 28 points. David West had 24 points and seven rebounds, Emeka Okafor scored 15 and grabbed 12 boards and Darren Collison had 13 points and 10 assists for New Orleans, which has lost three straight games and seven of its last eight.
The Suns shot 57.5 percent from the field overall -- and 68 percent in the first quarter, when they were good on 15-of-22 shots.
