Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 14 (UPI) -- Mikael Samuelsson tallied two goals Saturday as the Vancouver Canucks returned home after 14 straight roads games to post a 5-1 win over Ottawa.
Alexandre Burrows, Daniel Sedin and Sami Salo also lit the lamp for the Canucks, who were forced to spend six weeks away from GM Place -- the longest road stretch in the history of the NHL -- because of the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The Vancouver crowd gave a standing ovation to Canadian gold medal-winning goaltender Roberto Luongo, who had an easy night in net against Ottawa, stopping 13 shots.
Jason Spezza got the lone tally for the Senators while goalie Pascal Leclaire made 30 saves as the Senators dropped their fifth in six games.
