HOUSTON, March 14 (UPI) -- Luis Scola struck for a career-high 44 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Houston Rockets posted a 116-108 decision over New Jersey Saturday.

Scola was 20-of-25 shooting from the field while Kevin Martin contributed 20 points and Aaron Brooks added 18 and distributed seven assists for Houston, winners of three of its last four games.

Courtney Lee led New Jersey with 24 points and the Nets got 22 points and 10 rebounds from Brook Lopez in the defeat, which dropped their season's record to 7-59.

New Jersey would have to win three of its final 16 games to establish a new NBA-worst all time record. It now stands at 9-73, a mark of futility set by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1972-73.
