CNN suspends Martin for Super Bowl tweets

NEW YORK, March 14 (UPI) -- New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has undergone anti-obesity surgery, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.
The newspaper said Ryan underwent a procedure Saturday at NYU Medical Center to place a lap-band around his stomach, which decreases its size and thus cuts appetite and spurs weight loss.
The Daily News said Ryan, who reportedly weighed 340 pounds at the start of last season, was released following the surgery and returned to his New Jersey home.
Ryan also underwent a hernia surgery during his stay at the medical center, the newspaper said.
Ryan guided the Jets to the AFC Championship Game this year, his first as head coach, after a 9-7 regular season.
