COL BKB: So. Dakota 91, Houston Baptist 86

OREM, Utah, March 14 (UPI) -- Jake Thomas scored 24 points and Kendall Cutler added 21 Saturday as South Dakota downed Houston Baptist 91-86 in the Great West Conference Tournament final.

Cutler dished off eight assists while Steve Smith ended with 14 points and Louie Krogman 13 and Roman Gentry each contributed 10 for the Coyotes (23-9), who gained an automatic bid to the Collegeinsider.com Tournament with the GWC title.

It was the first championship game for the new conference.

Mario Flaherty put in 23 points and hauled down 17 rebounds for Houston Baptist (12-22), which also benefited from 20 points apiece from Andrew Gonzalez and Wendell Preadom.
