GREENSBORO, N.C., March 14 (UPI) -- Jon Scheyer hit a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left Sunday, lifting No. 4 Duke to a 65-61 win over Georgia Tech in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament final.
Scheyer's bucket made it a four-point game and Kyle Singler also played a key role at the charity stripe, getting 14 of his 20 points at the foul line, as Duke claimed its record-setting 18th ACC crown.
Scheyer and Nolan Smith each racked up 16 points for the Blue Devils (29-5), who essentially won the game at the free throw line after posting a paltry 35.3 shooting percentage from the floor. Duke went 24-of-28 from the stripe.
The Blue Devils' win gave them one more ACC tourney title than North Carolina and strengthened their chances for a No. 1 seed at the NCAA Tournament.
Derrick Favors put in 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Georgia Tech (22-12) in the loss.
