Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DALLAS, March 13 (UPI) -- Jarret Stoll produced the only shootout goal in the sixth round Friday, giving Los Angeles a 2-1 victory over Dallas.
Jamie Benn failed to score for the Stars to open the sixth round, after which Stoll sent a wrist shot just under the crossbar to end the contest.
Fredrik Modin produced the only goal in regulation for Los Angeles, which has reached 40 victories in a season for the first time in four years.
Jonathan Bernier started his first NHL game since October, 2007 and made 29 saves to get the victory.
Marty Turco took the loss while stopping 27 shots. The Stars have lost five out of six since the Olympic break.
Los Angeles has won all five games against Dallas this season.
