CALGARY, Alberta, March 12 (UPI) -- Miikka Kiprusoff picked up his fourth shutout of the season Thursday in leading the Calgary Flames to a 2-0 decision over Ottawa.
Kiprusoff, in his ninth NHL campaign, has 34 career shutouts. His best season came in 2005-06, when he recorded 10.
He made 32 saves Thursday against the Senators, who were trying to win in Calgary for the first time since 2003.
Jamal Mayers gave Calgary the lead 5:29 into the contest with his third goal of the year and it remained a 1-0 contest until Christopher Higgins scored on a slapshot midway through the third.
Brian Elliott, in only his second full season, stopped 23-of-25 shots.
Calgary won its fourth straight and maintained a one-point edge over Detroit in the battle for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference.
