NASHVILLE, March 12 (UPI) -- Wayne Chism scored 16 points and collected 15 rebounds Friday in helping No. 13 Tennessee post a 76-65 SEC Tournament victory over Mississippi.
The Volunteers (25-7) will face No. 2-rated Kentucky in the SEC semifinals Saturday. Tennessee is one of the two teams to have beaten the Wildcats this season. Kentucky was a 73-67 winner over Alabama on Friday.
Mississippi (21-10) held a narrow led through the first half and was up still even with Tennessee when Chris Warren hit a 3-pointer with 16:17 to go. But Chism made a layup that ignited an 8-0 run, giving Tennessee an edge.
Warren, who made five 3-pointers in the game, had two of the long-range shots that got the Rebels close but Tennessee was able to hold off Mississippi with free throws.
Chism's 16 points including 8-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line. J.P. Prince led the Volunteers with 17 points and Bobby Maze added 13.
Warren has 16 points in leading the Rebels while Zach Graham added 15 points and Terrico White 13 for Mississippi.
