NBA: San Antonio 97, New York 87

SAN ANTONIO, March 10 (UPI) -- Manu Ginobili scored 28 points Wednesday and the San Antonio Spurs fought off a New York comeback to down the Knicks 97-87.

New York never led, but rallied from a 14-point deficit early in the second half to tie it at 83-83 with 4 minutes to play. The Spurs then closed the contest with a 14-4 surge to win for the fifth time in six games.

San Antonio is in seventh place in the Western Conference playoff chase.

Tim Duncan had 18 points for the Spurs and Keith Bogans had 13. San Antonio outrebounded the Knicks by 19.

New York, which has lost three of its last four, was paced by 21 points and 10 rebounds from David Lee.
