NHL: Los Angeles 6, Columbus 0

LOS ANGELES, March 8 (UPI) -- Alexander Frolov had a goal and three assists and Los Angeles limited Columbus to 11 shots on goal Monday when the Kings beat the Blue Jackets 6-0.

Jonathan Quick posted his third shutout of the season, backed up by a four-goal first period, and the Kings ended a two-game losing streak. Michal Handzus and Fredrik Modin had a goal and assist each for LA.

Columbus pulled Steve Mason after he let in four goals on 13 shots in the first period. Mathieu Garon was 20-of-22 in goal the rests of the way for the Blue Jackets, who lost their fifth straight.

Wayne Simmonds opened the scoring for the Kings at 5:49 of the first period when he beat Mason from the right circle. Drew Doughty scored with 6:36 remaining in the first, Handzus made it 3-0 1:14 later and Frolov's power-play goal gave the Kings a 4-0 lead going into the first intermission.

The Blue Jackets were held to three shots in the first period, two in the second and six in the third.
