ST. PAUL, Minn., March 9 (UPI) -- Cory Stillman scored late to force overtime and then netted the shootout winner Tuesday, lifting the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.
Stillman tallied with 9:20 to go in regulation after receiving a drop pass from Steven Reinprecht in the slot, firing one past goalie Niklas Backstrom to tie the game at 2-2.
After a scoreless overtime, Stillman got the only goal of the shootout, beating Backstrom inside the left post to give Florida its first-ever win in Minnesota and breaking a seven-game losing streak against the Wild.
Michael Frolik got a third-period goal to cut the Panthers' deficit to 2-1. Goalie Tomas Vokoun faced only 11 shots from Minnesota, a franchise-record low total for the Wild.
Mikko Koivu and Robbie Earl scored for Minnesota while Backstrom had 29 saves in the defeat.
