KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 9 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent running back Thomas Jones, the team said Tuesday.
The 10-year NFL veteran was picked up by the Chiefs after being released by the New York Jets following three productive seasons.
The 31-year-old ran for a career-high 1,402 yards last year. He set a Jets franchise record with 14 rushing touchdowns, bettering his own mark of 13 set in 2008.
Jones also set a Jets single-game record with 210 rushing yards in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.
Before his stint with the Jets, Jones spent three seasons with the Chicago Bears. Jones has rushed for 1,000 yards each season since 2005, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2008 after piling up 1,312 yards and scoring 15 total touchdowns.
