Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BOSTON, March 7 (UPI) -- Ray Allen sank a 3-pointer with 17.1 seconds left in regulation to give the Boston Celtics an 86-83 comeback triumph over Washington Sunday.
The Celtics charged back from a 79-66 deficit to record the win. With 1:17 left to play and Boston trailing 82-81, Allen (25 points) drained a trey from the left side to put the hosts up for good.
Kevin Garnett added a free throw with 5.8 seconds left and Al Thornton's open 3-point try from the left wing bounced off to preserve the Celtics' win, their fourth straight.
Paul Pierce scored 17 points and Rajon Rondo had 15 points in the victory.
Thornton paced the Wizards with 24 points and 11 boards while Andray Blatche put in 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in defeat.
