Doubles duo keeps Israel in Davis hunt

COQUIMBO, Chile, March 7 (UPI) -- The doubles team of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram notched a clutch win Sunday to keep Israel alive against Chile in first-round Davis Cup play.

Erlich and Ram rallied for a 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (11-9), 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over the Chilean duo of Jorge Aguilar and Paul Capdeville, pulling Israel to within 2-1 in the best-of-five series at Coquimbo, Chile.

The winner will be decided Monday either in the reverse singles match between Chilean Fernando Gonzalez and Dudi Sela or in the possible deciding rubber matching Nicolas Massu and Harel Levy.

Gonzalez in Saturday put Chile up 2-0 by overcoming Levy 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 on Coquimbo's red clay courts.
