Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, March 6 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki notched 27 points Saturday, leading five Mavericks in double figures as Dallas posted a 122-116 win over Chicago.
Rodrigue Beaubois and Caron Butler each scored 24 points while Shawn Marion donated 18 and Eduardo Najera struck for 11 off the bench as Dallas won its 11th straight contest.
The Mavs won despite being shorthanded, dressing just nine players as Erick Dampier (dislocated right middle finger), Brendan Haywood (lower back tightness) and Jason Terry (facial surgery) were all missing. Dallas, however, remained hot from the field, shooting 56.3 percent from the field.
Derrick Rose led all scorers with 34 points and eight assists for the Bulls, losers of four straight.
