NASHVILLE, March 6 (UPI) -- Devan Downey connected for 26 points, including four 3-pointers, as South Carolina rallied to topple No. 19 Vanderbilt 77-73 Saturday.
The Gamecocks (15-15, 6-10 SEC) were down by as many as nine halfway through the final 20 minutes, but went on an 18-2 run after Brandis Raley-Ross hit a jumper, ending the spurt with a 64-57 advantage.
Vanderbilt tied it 69-69 on a trey by Jermaine Beal, but Downey answered with a 3-pointer of his own and extended the Commodores' lead to four after Sam Muldrow converted 1-of-2 free throws with 42.2 seconds remaining.
Muldrow ended with 20 points and nine boards as South Carolina snapped a six-game losing streak.
Beal poured in 21 points and secured eight rebounds to lead Vanderbilt (23-7, 12-4), which with the loss handed the outright SEC title to Kentucky.
