BOSTON, March 3 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce bounced back from a thumb injury to score 27 points Wednesday and boost the Boston Celtics to a 104-80 thrashing of Charlotte.
Pierce played for the second time since missing three games with the sore thumb. He scored just nine points Tuesday in a win over Detroit, but hit 9-of-13 shots against the Bobcats. Four of his field goals came from 3-point range.
Nate Robinson added 16 points for Boston, which shot 53.5 percent from the field and hit 10-of-16 from beyond the arc.
Charlotte, loser of five out of six, was led by 15 points and 10 rebounds from Tyrus Thomas.
Boston scored the last six points of the first period on two 3-pointers from Robinson and then put up the first six of the second quarter to take a 17-point advantage.
Charlotte climbed back within three, but Boston ended the first half on a 9-2 run and was not challenged over the final two periods.
It was the third and last regular-season meeting between the teams this year and Boston won them all.
