TORONTO, March 2 (UPI) -- Justin Peters stopped 32 shots and Chad LaRose notched a goal and two helpers as the Carolina Hurricanes dispatched Toronto 5-1 Tuesday.

Peters, a rookie, was making only the third start of his NHL career and remained perfect, notching his third win for the Hurricanes, who didn't let the Olympics break interrupt their six-game winning streak.

Carolina also got a goal and an assist from Jussi Jokinen, while Brandon Sutter, Tuomo Ruutu and Sergei Samsonov also scored in the Canes' victory.

Toronto's Jean-Sebastien Giguere gave up all five goals, facing 30 shots. John Mitchell scored the lone goal in defeat for the Maple Leafs, who fell to 2-8-2 in their last 12 contests.
